It's the biggest match of the domestic season in League One tomorrow, a full-throttle battle between two teams who, at one point, looked nailed on for first and second.

Portsmouth and Sunderland were in the top two going into the festive period an looking set to pull away, but they've both stumbled and seen their places taken by Barnsley and Luton.

Now both sides have eyes on the Tykes, with a game in hand to impress their intentions, but before that they must kill off the other in a winner-takes-all encounter tomorrow.

Failure to win for either side leaves Barnsley in the driving seat and opens up the potential for another Wembley showdown between Kenny Jackett and Jack Ross in the play-offs. It's a tantalising prospect for the neutral, but a situation both wish to avoid.

Portsmouth have few injury worries and have recently seen some of their long-term casualties come back into the squad. it means Kenny Jackett has a wide selection of players from which to pick an 11 capable of ending the Black Cats top two ambitions.

Which XI will he pick though? This is our shout:

There's going to be few changes across the back. Craig MacGillivray has played 51 times in all competitions and is a safe pair of hands, whilst in front of him Matt Clarke is arguably the best centre back outside the top two divisions.

Nathan Thompson will be tasked with keeping Aiden McGeady quiet, whilst on the other flank the dependable Lee Brown has 47 starts this season too.

Tom Naylor and Ben Close will hold the midfield, looking to stifle any creative influence Sunderland look to exert. It makes for a fascinating battle with the Black Cats pairing, although they've recent switched to a 4-4-2 which could work in Portsmouth's favour.

The key to getting a result lies with the front four, organised with three behind the main striker. Jamal Lowe and Gareth Evans will look to provide width in the absence of 23-year-old Ronan Curtis. He picked up a freak injury prior to the EFL Trophy win and is being seen from the bench of late.

Kenny Jackett dropped Brett Pitman at the beginning of the season, then did the same to Ollie Hawkins in January, but they've now found a method which suits both. They'll play as a strike partnership, albeit with Pitman coming from deeper.
