Having marked their return to the Championship with a 2-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers last weekend, Charlton Athletic will be looking to build upon this success when they host Stoke City at The Valley on Saturday.

Lee Bowyer's side secured all three points on their travels courtesy of goals from Ben Purrington and Lyle Taylor with the latter of the two opting to stay with the Addicks despite reported interest from both Brentford and Middlesbrough (via Football Insider).

Since kicking-off their 2019/20 season in style, Charlton have since signed Beram Kayal, Sam Field, Jonathan Leko and Josh Cullen with all four of these players available for selection at the weekend.

With the Addicks looking to put on a show in-front of their home supporters, we take a look at the XI we expect Bowyer to go with against the Potters...

Having achieved a great deal of success against Blackburn using a 3-5-1-1 formation, Bowyer is set to stick by this particular system for the visit of Stoke.

Despite scoring an own-goal in last week's clash with Rovers, Dillon Phillips is expected to keep his place in goal ahead of summer signing Ben Amos.

The back-three for Charlton will remain unchanged following impressive displays from Tom Lockyer, Jason Pearce and Naby Sarr at Ewood Park whilst Purrington is set to occupy one of the two wing-back roles once again after opening his goal-scoring account for the season.

Following Anfernee Dijksteel's decision to join Middlesbrough earlier this week, the right-wing back role is very much up for grabs at Charlton with both Chris Solly and Adedeji Oshilaja competing for position.

However, given that Solly has much more experience at Championship level in comparison with his team-mate, he may be given the nod to start by Bowyer.

Whilst Jake Forster-Casey and George Lapslie are set to keep their places in the heart of midfield, Darren Pratley could miss out due to the arrival of Cullen from West Ham United.

Having impressed considerably last season for the Addicks in League One, the 23-year-old will be looking to make a real impression in the second-tier by offering some creativity in the middle of the park.

Jonny Williams is expected to feature in the hole just behind centre-forward Taylor who scored what Charlton will hope is the first of many goals this season in last week's victory over Blackburn.
