Brentford striker, Neal Maupay has been the subject of much speculation linking him with the likes of Aston Villa and Middlesbrough according to Sky Sports.

It’s clear to see why as well, with the Frenchman already having 23 goals in just 41 appearances for the Bees this season.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, it’s likely that we will see Maupay being linked with a move away from Thomas Frank’s side.

The Brentford boss has revealed in an interview with Football.London that he is keen for the club to retain the services of their in-form striker.

"We hope he stays here for a long, long time. But we know with good players – we never ever know what happens with them."

The 22-year-old is one of the most in-demand players in English football at this moment in time, and he’ll be keen to have his long-term future resolved at the earliest of opportunities.

Maupay came up against former Premier League side, West Brom at the weekend, a game in which they narrowly lost 1-0.

But the forward felt that he is more than good enough to play against top flight players and is remaining tight-lipped on his future with Brentford as the season heads towards a conclusion.

"Yeah, I think I’m good enough to play against those kinds of players. I work hard every day in training, try to improve every day. So, we will see."

The Verdict:

I can see him leaving Brentford in the summer.

He’s far too good for them and is destined for a move to the Premier League in the next coming years.

He’s a proven goalscorer and would be an excellent addition for any side that made a transfer swoop for him in the summer.
