Sunderland are on the brink of dropping into League One and are surely going to have to take a wrecking ball to their squad when it comes to the summer window.

The men from the Stadium of Light ideally needed to do that last summer after their drop from the Premier League but that is not what happened and it looks as though they are paying the price for that.

Surely, though, this summer they'll be looking to go again and with what limited resources they have a move for our latest FLW Spotlight Dan Burn might not be such a bad thing:

Of course, if Wigan go up this season they'll surely want to keep hold of Burn in the Championship but if they do miss out on promotion, Sunderland - regardless of their league status - should look to profit.

With Lamine Kone surely going to leave and John O'Shea looking well past his best, the club needs to get in some new centre-halves and few have impressed as much as Burn in League One.

For sure, it would not be an easy deal to pull off but if Ellis Short sells up the Black Cats might be able to make a move - they're still a massive club after all.
