Stoke City midfielder Peter Etebo has been slowly making his presence known for the Potters this season.

The Nigerian, who enjoyed a good World Cup this summer over in Russia, moved to Stoke despite interest from other clubs, with some questions asked over his decision to make a move to a club what were set to play in the Championship.

However, in a report by the Stoke Sentinel taking quotes from Nigerian website Football Live, Etebo insisted he was happy with his decision to move to Staffordshire.

“I didn’t rush to join Stoke City. It was my decision, and I’m still going to say it to everyone."

“I had other options, from the Bundesliga, the Spanish La Liga and even from the Premier League, but I decided to go to Stoke and the reasons for doing so are best known to me. It wasn’t a mistake. I took the decision and I’m happy with it.”

The midfielder has been impressive in his last couple of outings, helping the Potters to wins over Norwich City and Bolton Wanderers.

However, Stoke currently sit some nine points off the top of the Championship table, meaning a promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking seems to be a big ask.

The verdict

Etebo certainly looks the part, and in the long term he will no doubt be a key player for Stoke.

Even if he does want to move on, he remains an asset to the club, and he would no doubt command a decent fee should he decide to move on if Stoke aren't promoted.
