Tashan Oakley-Boothe has sealed a temporary departure from Championship outfit Stoke City.

As confirmed by Stoke's official website, the 22-year-old has joined Lincoln City on a season-long loan deal.

Oakley-Boothe could potentially make his debut for the Imps when they face Exeter City on the opening day of the 2022/23 campaign.

Since securing a switch to the bet365 Stadium in 2020, Oakley-Boothe has struggled to establish himself as a key player for the Potters.

After featuring on 16 occasions for the club in the Championship during the 2020/21 campaign, the midfielder fell out of favour last season.

Oakley-Boothe failed to make a single senior appearance for Stoke as he was utilised exclusively at Under-23 level.

During the 16 Premier League 2 Division 2 games that he participated in, Oakley-Boothe provided two direct goal contributions.

Stoke bolstered their options in this particular position by signing Josh Laurent on a three-year deal earlier this month.

Fellow midfielder Mario Vrancic was recently allowed to join Rijeka on loan while Wales international Joe Allen is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of June.

Lincoln have now signed four players this summer as Oakley-Boothe follows in the footsteps of Paudie O'Connor, Charles Vernham and Theo Archibald who have all sealed moves to Sincil Bank.

The Verdict

This particular bit of business could end up benefitting all of the parties involved.

Lincoln will be able to call upon the services of an individual who has featured in the Championship during his career and will be keen to prove his worth in a lower division.

As for Oakley-Boothe, he could revive his career following what has been a difficult period for him at Stoke if he goes on to feature regularly in the third-tier.

Stoke meanwhile could be able to call upon the services of a much-improved Oakley-Boothe in the 2023/24 campaign.

It will be intriguing to see whether the Potters decide to add to their options in central-midfield in the coming weeks as they are currently able to turn to the likes of Laurent, Lewis Baker and Sam Clucas in this particular position.
