Whilst Marcelo Bielsa will be making sure Leeds United aren’t getting ahead of themselves and thinking about promotion, the reality is that the club are in the mix and close to a Premier League return for the first time since 2004.

Leeds have 11 games to go this season but the playing staff won’t be looking much further than Saturday’s tricky test at Bristol City.

However, senior figures appear to have their eyes on transfer targets if they win promotion, with Alan Nixon reporting that Harry Wilson is someone the club will target if they are a Premier League outfit next season.

The Wilson links are encouraging for Leeds, with the talented Liverpool youngster in impressive form on loan at Derby County as we speak.

However, for Jack Harrison, Leeds’ on loan winger, they might be slightly worrying.

Harrison is on loan at Elland Road from Manchester City and despite some impressive performances of late, the 22-year-old has been largely inconsistent in a Leeds shirt.

He has three Championship goals to his name this season, whilst Wilson has 10. The latter is four months younger than Harrison, but his adaption to the demands of the second-tier has been seamless, whilst Harrison has only just found his feet in the Leeds first-team.

Of course, there isn’t much to suggest that Leeds won’t look to re-sign Harrison next season, but if Wilson is on the radar it seems unlikely, particularly with Ezgjan Alioski, Pablo Hernandez and Jack Clarke all on the Elland Road books full-time.

Now, all Harrison can do is convince Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa that he’s worth another chance next season. He will know first-team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium are unlikely, so returning to Leeds could be perfect for him.

Wilson might be on the radar for now, but Harrison helping Leeds achieve their primary goal of promotion will go a long way in convincing his temporary employers he’s the better option.
