Conor Shaughnessy has revealed his delight after it was confirmed he had left Leeds to join Hearts on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Whites announced that the 22-year-old had left the club, along with right-back Lewie Coyle who is extending his stay at Fleetwood.

The Ireland U21 international has struggled for game time since the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa this summer.

In total, he has managed just 45 minutes of action, which saw him hooked as the Yorkshire side crashed out of the League Cup to Preston.

Aside from that, it has been U23 football for the defender, but he will now get the opportunity to play regularly for the Jambos as they look to finish in a Europa League position in the Scottish Premiership.

And, he sent a message on Twitter to his new supporters outlining just how pleased he is to have made the temporary switch:

Shaughnessy will hope to make his debut for the Edinburgh outfit when they come back from their winter break to take on Livingston in the cup at Tynecastle on 20 January.

The Verdict

You can understand why Shaughnessy is so pleased to have made the move as it's a great opportunity for him at a time when he wasn't playing regularly.

Clearly, going and playing competitively will benefit his career and development so Leeds will be glad he has this move too.

He will now be hoping to make a big impact at his new club over the next few months.
