Ryan Manning is going straight into contention to make his Rotherham United debut this weekend against Leeds United.

Paul Warne’s side have moved quickly to secure Manning’s service today, with the 22-year-old midfielder arriving on-loan from Queens Park Rangers.

With only two central midfielders fit, Manning’s signing is key, with Leon Wobschall from the Yorkshire Post confirming that the midfielder will go straight into contention to face Leeds in Saturday’s Yorkshire derby.

Warne’s side head to Elland Road looking for their second successive victory in the Championship, after beating Ipswich Town last time out.

Rotherham will be up against a strong Leeds side though, with the Whites looking good under Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa has helped Leeds to six points from their opening two Championship fixtures, with the Whites beating Stoke City and Derby County.

Add to that, the Whites have also progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup, with goals from Patrick Bamford and Samu Saiz securing a 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

Like Leeds, Rotherham also progressed, beating Wigan Athletic 3-1.

The Verdict

Manning’s arrival is a major boost for Rotherham ahead of Saturday, with the midfielder solving a problem position.

Warne’s options looked limited in central midfield, but Manning will ease fears.

Saturday will be tough for the Millers, but securing the service of a player like Manning ahead of the fixture will lift the mood amongst Warne’s squad.
