Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has sent a message to fans as he enters the final weeks of freedom before returning to pre-season training.

The 22-year-old has spent the last few weeks away on international duty with Northern Ireland after a mixed season with Leeds but his recent performances have put him in high spirits.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday evening he wrote: "4 wins from 4 and clean sheet to finish. Time to enjoy my last 10 days before pre season starts."

Peacock-Farrell played every minute of both of the Green and White Army's matches with wins against Estonia and Belarus putting them top of their Euro 2020 qualifying group.

He will be hopeful of breaking back into the Leeds starting XI after the January arrival of Kiko Casilla saw him consigned to the bench for the second half of the campaign.

But after the Spaniard experienced a shaky finish to the season, Marcelo Bielsa is likely to give him every possible chance.

He started the season brightly, beating Jamal Blackman to claim the number one spot, and kept ten clean sheets in 28 Championship appearances as the Whites narrowly missed out on automatic promotion.

They were then beaten by Derby County in dramatic circumstances in the play-off semi-finals to extinguish any hopes of a Premier League place.

The verdict

It would be great to Peacock-Farrell back between the sticks at the start of next season.

Casilla's signing was worth doing but it has ultimately not worked out and it is time Bielsa reverted to the promising youngster.

And I think he will, as well. Whilst Peacock-Farrell made a few errors last season he is only going to improve and could be crucial.
