West Brom desperately need something to change in the next few weeks if they are going to have any hope of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
A second loss in a row on Tuesday night saw them fall even further behind in the race for the top-two and risked them losing momentum for the play-offs too.
Bristol City found themselves 3-0 to the good within just 20 minutes on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Josh Brownhill, Andreas Weimann and Jack Hunt.
Two goals after the break from Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez offered a glimmer of hope, but it was not to be and the defeat has left them nine points behind the top two.
On Thursday, however, they were offered a small slice of positive news when the club announced that winger Matt Phillips was fit to return to action.
However, his absence has allowed for the continued progression of youth-product Kyle Edwards who has impressed whenever he has been given the chance on the wing.
But how will he be feeling following this latest update?
Whilst I am sure Edwards would love a safe run in the first team, he will improve much more slowly if he does not have any competition.
Therefore, I am sure he will be relishing the potential battle that he and Phillips will have for those starting spots, knowing that it will surely improve him.
