Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla ended up as Leeds United's only signing of the January transfer window as Marcelo Bielsa looks to take the club back into the Premier League for the first time in 15 years.

Casilla was not the only name on the Argentinian's wishlist, however, as he lost out on his top attacking target, Daniel James of Swansea City, in the last moments.

A deal for the winger fell through on transfer deadline day, with the clubs failing to agree on a way the £1.5million loan fee would be paid, but Bielsa remains interested in bringing the 21-year-old in during the summer transfer window according to the Mirror.

James will have just 12 months remaining on his deal at the Liberty Stadium at the end of the season and the Swans could be tempted to cash in on him.

So, how should he be feeling after this latest revelation?

This setback will be a big test of James' character. Will he let it get on top of him, leading his season to fizzle out? Or will he use it as motivation?

You would hope the latter. And there is no doubt that Bielsa will be looking for that too.

With this latest revelation, then, James should feel incredibly inspired to perform to his absolute best in the final months of the season.

Use the January interest from Leeds as a confidence booster. A coach of Bielsa stature thinks he is good enough for the top-flight. That should be enough for any player to play out of their skin.

He needs to go out each week and show Leeds why they were so keen to sign him and ensure that their interest does not waver.
