Leeds United forward Adrian Balboa is reportedly set to join Spanish side Lorca.

Balboa was sent out on loan twice by the Whites last season, spending time at Spanish clubs Terrassa and Vilafranca.

It seems as though the 21-year-old is set to go out on loan again as Spanish outlet Cadena COPE have reported he is close to joining Lorca.

The report claims that the deal has been slowed down by a public holiday in Spain on Thursday but it appears his Elland Road exit is close.

At Lorca, the forward will be playing under former Birmingham City striker Walter Pandiani.

The Spanish side were relegated from the Segunda last season and it appears that the forward is keen on helping them get bounce straight back up as, speaking to Cadena COPE, he indicated he wanted to help the side secure promotion this season.

Balboa said: “I am convinced that with Pandiani we will achieve the objective.”

The Spaniard arrived at Leeds from Unificacion Bellvitge in July 2017 but has never featured for the senior side.

The 21-year-old is understood to have three years left on his current deal at Elland Road.

The Verdict

This looks like a smart move for all parties involved.

Balboa is unlikely to be involved for the Leeds senior side this season so sending him out on loan to get some first-team experience in Spain looks a wise move.

The forward should be hungry to make his mark, with an eye on turning some heads at Elland Road.

With Balboa far down the pecking order at Leeds this isn’t a move that should have any impact on their promotion chances this season.
