Since Dean Smith's departure, there has been a bit of a dower mood hanging around Brentford.

Under Smith, the Bees were challenging around the top of the table, but since leaving for Aston Villa, Smith's former side have experienced a slump.

Before the weekend, Thomas Frank's side were on an eight-game run without a win, losing half of them, leading them to slip into the bottom half of the table.

But, Saturday's 2-0 victory against Millwall at Griffin Park showed that the club have retained that brand of exciting attacking football that saw them claim so many plaudits.

Neal Maupay, despite not scoring, was a creative threat all day as was his strike partner Ollie Watkins, who scored the Bees' second.

But, the standout performer for Frank's side was undoubtedly Spanish winger Sergi Canos.

The 21-year-old was a constant menace all game and showed that there is plenty of fight left in the London side.

A brilliant goal put the home side ahead on Saturday and was one of four shots he attempted, showing that he is constantly looking to make things happen for his side.

His interception shows that he is clearly putting in a shift defensively, as well as carrying the attack to the opposition.

As a winger, his pass success is always going to be slightly lower, so it is not worth worrying too much about the 71%, although you can be sure himself and Frank will want to work on that.

The main message to take away from the match is how important Canos is to this side and you can expect his stats of three goals and one assist in the league to shoot up in the next few weeks, which could coincide with another Brentford rise.
