Gerhard Struber will be hoping his Barnsley side can bounce back from the narrow 3-2 defeat to Cardiff City at the weekend when the Tykes host Reading on Wednesday evening.

Despite only one win in his opening four games, Struber has seen his Barnsley side improve performance wise and will be hoping they can build on their home win against Hull City last time out at Oakwell.

Barnsley sit rock-bottom of the Championship and while performances have improved under the Austrian, the side still have a lot of work to do if they are to mount a survival challenge.

In a week that has seen the board praise the improved performances under the 42-year-old.

On Tuesday, Yorkshire Post journalist Leon Wobschall confirmed the Reds have been struck with a big injury blow in the build up to their clash with the Royals, with 21-year-old Aapo Halme set to miss out due to an ankle injury.

Halme has featured in 14 of Barnsley's games so far this season and his presence at the back could be a big miss for Struber on Wednesday night.

Barnsley were unlucky not to get anything from the Cardiff City clash where they fell to a late defeat after leading twice in the encounter.

With Halme set to miss out we take a look below on how we expect the Reds to line-up on Wednesday.

With the Reds unlucky in defeat to Cardiff and winning their last home game it is hard to see Struber making too many changes.

Toby Sibbick could fill in for the absent Halme with the Ben Williams and Jordan Williams playing the wing-back roles.

After scoring at weekend, we suspect Conor Chaplin will get the nod up-top with Cauley Woodrow, with Alex Mowatt marshalling the midfield.

Mads Anderson and Bambo Diaby both started the game against Cardiff City, and are likely to be kept busy by the likes of George Puscas and Sam Baldock.

Samuel Sahin-Radlinger is likely to retain his spot between the posts for the Tykes, with Struber seemingly keen to keep him in the starting XI ahead of Bradley Collins at this moment in time.
