Burnley's Matej Vydra has been linked with a loan-move to Bristol City, according to a report from Bristol Live.

The streets won't forget Matej Vydra. Named in the PFA Team of the Year for both the 2013/13 and 2017/18 Championship seasons, the Czech International is regarded as something of a 'two-season wonder'.

Fans first heard of the name when he burst onto the scene with Watford in 2012, arriving on-loan from Udinese. He bagged 20 Championship goals in his first season in English football, and two years later guided the Hornets to the Premier League.

Though he wasn't favoured in the top-flight by then Watford boss Quique Sánchez Flores, and after an unsuccessful loan-spell at Reading, found himself at Derby County.

It was at Pride Park where he resurrected his career - in his second season he scored 21 goals in the Championship, was voted Derby's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year, won the Golden Boot and was named in the Championship Team of the Year too. Vydra was back:

That season landed him a move to Premier League side Burnley. He'd been given another shot at the promised land by Sean Dyche and it looked as though the now 27-year-old would finally realise his potential in the Premier League. But that's been far from the case, and now he looks set to dip back down into the Championship yet again.

A number of clubs have been linked with a loan move for Vydra this month. Bristol City are leading the pack to land the Czech, but Nottingham Forest and Vydra's former club West Brom, are in-line to land him should his move to Ashton Gate fall through.

Lee Johnson though is expected to announce the permanent signing of Nahki Wells either today or tomorrow. The Burnley man was recalled from his loan-spell at QPR earlier this week amid reports linking him to Bristol City, and now it's reported that the pair have agreed a £4 million fee for him.

Vydra has everything - trickery, unpredictably, link-up play, goals, the lot. He's showed in the past that he can dominate this league, but for whatever reason, the Premier League hasn't worked out on two occasions for Vydra. Bristol City would be an ideal haven for Vydra, and he should be expected to fully bolster the Robins promotion push should he join.
