’20mil minimum’, ‘Can’t blame the lad’ – Many Birmingham City fans react as player exit links emerge

Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund have opened talks to sign Birmingham City midfielder Jobe Bellingham, according to Football Insider.

The 16-year-old, who doesn’t turn 17 until next September, has emerged as another rising talent from the Blues’ academy after seeing older sibling Jude make his name at St Andrew’s during the 2019/20 season before moving on to Signal Iduna Park last year.

Although Jude had a full season of Championship football under his belt when he made the move to Germany, Jobe is yet to make his first-team debut in the West Midlands but is currently thriving with the club’s Under-23s at his tender age.

Despite his inexperience, Dortmund are thought to regard the 16-year-old as a ‘major talent’ – and are now ready to secure his signature in an attempt to convince Jude to remain at the club amid strong links with former Premier League champions and Champions League winners Liverpool.

As per Football Insider, they believe the potential addition of Jobe will convince his older brother to remain at the club, opening contract talks with the latter after establishing himself as a key figure for them last term in the German top-tier as he experienced European football for the first time.

It remains to be seen what the younger Bellingham’s stance is on this potential move after failing to make his senior debut for Birmingham just yet, though that could potentially be on the way shortly after seeing him appear on the bench in three competitive matches for Lee Bowyer’s men this term.

With a departure potentially in the pipeline though, we take a look through what some Blues fans had to say about this latest transfer development.
