Leeds United remain top of the Championship despite a 2-1 loss at Stoke City this afternoon.

The Potters saw off the table topping Whites with a solid display which will have delighted new manager Nathan Jones as he looks to take his new club on a second half of season run at the top six.

Leeds though are still looking like the best side in the league on their day, and news has emerged today that the club could be set to invest even further in the playing squad, with a £20m double swoop for Toni Villa and Ruben Alcaraz reportedly being lined up.

The Spanish midfielders would no doubt add some quality to the ranks at Elland Road, but is it really worth it at this stage of the season for Leeds to go and splash the cash?

We asked our writers here at FLW to give us their thoughts on if spending such a sum is the right thing to do for Leeds now...

Chris Gallagher

"I don't see why not.
"They've not spent a lot over the years and there have been a few big sales in that time, with Chris Wood a notable one.
"If the money is available, now is the time to spend it as the Premier League is in sight."

Gary Hutchinson

“That’s interesting, Should they? Yes. With the TV money at stake I can see why they’d gamble on it.

“Are they the right players? I’m not so sure.

“I find it hard to question anything Bielsa does if I’m honest.

“He seems to have a Midas touch.”

Lee Connor

"I just can't make my mind up to be honest.

"£20m is peanuts if you can guarantee promotion, but what if it doesn't work out, you're then stuck with two Spanish players who might not fancy the Championship for a full season.

"It's a risk, but if the money is there, and Bielsa thinks it will get them over the line, then you have to trust his judgement."
