Once upon a time, Jay Rodriguez was touted as the next big thing, England caps and a future in the top flight awaited the Southampton man.

Injury put paid to his international career and recently, relegation with West Brom ended his top-flight stint too. He's now 'just' a Championship striker with a single England cap to his name.

At 28-years old he's still very much in his prime though, so just how much is he worth in today's market?

Our FLW team have been discussing Jay Rod's value....

Jay Williams

West Brom signed him for £12m last summer and there is no point in them selling him unless they recoup that fee and more.

With three years left to run on his contract and a good few years of the striker at his prime, West Brom should hold out for a fee closer to £20m.

If someone pays that, then it is time to sell him but if not, the Baggies should avoid losing him on the cheap and have the once-capped England striker leading the line in the Championship

Sam Rourke

At the age of 28, Jay Rodriguez is supposed to be in the prime of his career but it's questionable as to whether he is.

As it stands, I think Jay Rod is worth around £10 million - If you can get the former Burnley striker firing though, he would secure you over 15+ goals a season.

Louie Chandler

In my eyes, he is worth no more than £10million. There are many more players at this level who are for more prolific than him.

At 28 he is hardly going to improve much more either which limits his value

Adam Willmott

£8m

An extremely gifted striker, but plagued with injury problems in recent years. At 28 the striker could still have several good seasons in him if he can stay injury free
