Following their relegation from the top-flight in 2016, many Norwich City supporters would have expected a promotion push for an instant return, but it hasn't all gone to plan this season.

The Canaries are going through a transitional period at the moment, and that's not a negative to take, as the club look to solidify their status in the Championship even more.

The central core of this Norwich squad have been together for the last couple of years and it seems a clear-out is needed, to do that, the manager will need to push certain players out of the match-day squad and especially the starting eleven.

Alan Irvine's predecessor, Alex Neil, did exactly that by allowing Josh Murphy and his brother to become prominent members of the first-team following their loan spells away from Carrow Road last season.

Here are TWO starlets who will surely be pushing for a start next campaign at Norwich City....

James Maddison

The 20-year-old youngster is one of the rising stars in East Anglia and could be the next 'big thing' come out of Carrow Road if he gets the minutes on the pitch next season, whoever the manager may be.

James Maddison was sent on loan to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen last summer and made quite the impression across the border - making 14 appearances for the Dons, scoring twice and assisting seven goals.

The attacking midfielder has been sitting in the stands since his return in January but will be determined to impress during pre-season as he looks to win supporters and the management team over.

Harry Toffolo

Harry Toffolo's stirring performances on loan at Scunthorpe United haven't gone unnoticed by Norwich City supporters, and it's just a matter of time before they demand his name on the team sheet every week.

The left-back may shine in his opportunity next season as the Canaries lack in his position, especially as Mitchell Dijks will return to Ajax at the end of the campaign.

His displays have helped the Irons push for promotion to the Championship and the Glanford Park faithful will dearly miss Toffolo when he returns to Carrow Road, but it is Norwich's gain.
