Daniel Adshead has sealed a permanent move to League One side Cheltenham Town from Norwich City.

As confirmed by Norwich's official website, the Robins have signed Adshead for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at Cheltenham and will now be looking to establish himself as a key member of the club's squad during the 2022/23 campaign.

Adshead joined Norwich in 2019 and went on to make 20 appearances for the club's youth sides during his first season at the club.

After being loaned out to Dutch outfit SC Telstar for the 2020/21 season, the 20-year-old made another temporary exit from Carrow Road last year as he joined Gillingham.

Unfortunately for Adshead, his time with the Gills was cut short by a foot injury.

Having made 26 appearances in the third-tier during his career, it may not take Adshead too much time to adapt to life in this division.

Adshead is the second player that Norwich have opted to sell to a League One side this summer.

Earlier this month, Matt Dennis sealed a move to Milton Keynes Dons for an undisclosed fee.

In terms of incomings, Norwich have only made one signing in the current transfer window.

Isaac Hayden recently joined the Canaries on an initial loan deal from Newcastle United.

The Verdict

When you consider that Adshead failed to make a single senior appearance for Norwich during his time at Carrow Road, it is hardly a surprise that the club have opted to cash in on him.

Having recently launched an overhaul of his squad, Dean Smith may now switch his focus to drafting in a number of fresh faces in the coming weeks.

In order to have the best chance of achieving a great deal of success in the Championship, Norwich will need to secure the services of some classy operators between now and the end of the window.

As for Adshead, he will be hoping to make considerable strides in terms of his development at Cheltenham following a frustrating spell at Norwich.
