Bristol City made a blistering start to the season last season, but fizzled out towards the end of their 2017/2018 campaign. So far this year they have endured mixed fortunes in the Championship.

Lee Johnson's side are currently sat eighth in the Championship table and after back-to-back wins in the league, they go into their game against Stoke City at Ashton Gate full of confidence.

Famara Diedhiou was the hero for Bristol City in midweek as he netted a last-gasp winner against relegation-threatened Hull City, helping his side move to within two points of the play off-positions.

The returning Tomas Kalas also provides Johnson with a huge boost, and he will be confident that the Czech Republic international can start to replicate similar form to what he showed during his time with Fulham.

But who do we expect to see start for Johnson's side at the weekend?

Find out who makes the cut here....

O'Leary couldn't have wished for a better start to his Bristol City career this year.

The 22-year-old has played in two league matches this season against Brentford and Hull and has kept clean sheets in both of those.

He is certain to start in this one.

I was surprised to see him move to Bristol City in the summer from Sheffield Wednesday, but he has certainly made a positive start to life at the club.

He has started all of Bristol City's league games this season and will be confident of retaining his place in the side for the weekend.

Kalas returned to the side against Hull in midweek following an injury lay-off that saw him miss a month of fixtures.

When fit, Kalas is certainly one of the first names on the teamsheet, so he will be hoping for regular game time in the future.

Webster has not missed a single minute of action this season and has been one of Lee Johnson's standout players in recent games.

He is certainly justifying the price tag paid for him after making the move from Ipswich Town in the summer of 2018.

Kelly was only named as a substitute for the win over Hull, but I expect him to return to the side this weekend.

The 20-year-old has made 12 starts this season and is likely to replace fellow youngster Jay Dasilva in the starting line-up this weekend.

The Bristol City captain is another player that hasn't missed a minute of their league campaign so far and he has formed a good midfield partnership alongside Josh Brownhill.

With a goal and an assist to his name, he will be looking to add to that tally in the near future.

Brownhill offers more of an attacking mind in the centre of midfield.

He has netted twice and assisted twice this season and the 22-year-old will be hoping to continue his good run of form.

It's fair to say that Paterson is yet to hit the heights he did last season.

The former Huddersfield Town winger scored on five occasions and assisted eight times for Lee Johnson's side last season, but he has only scored once so far this term.

If he can find his shooting boots quickly then he is likely to be a regular starter in the side this season.

The young Swede has been one of Johnson's star players this season and with a goal and three assists to his name already, he will be confident of maintaining his good start to this year's campaign.

The former Aston Villa forward has been in excellent form this season and has started all but one league game for Lee Johnson's side.

He is the club's top goalscorer as well with five goals to his name, so he comes into this one full of confidence and looking to add to that tally.

Diedhiou has found first-team opportunities limited this season.

However, he has netted on three occasions, most notably when he scored the winner in midweek against Hull City.

He should keep his place in the side ahead of Matty Taylor.
