Huddersfield Town are looking to get back-to-back wins for the third time this season as they prepare to face Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers are currently looking to shake off their inconsistencies as they face a Latics side eager to steal a march on the teams above them in safety. Huddersfield have had a somewhat turbulent first half of the season on their return to the Championship as they struggled to stop the rot of their Premier League demise.

The appointment of Danny Cowley provided some stability in team selection and performances as they went on a seven-game unbeaten run, however, this came to an end against Preston North End last month along with some serious injury concerns.

The Terriers have had to contend with multiple first-team injuries since then, forcing Cowley into selecting a host of youngsters in their place which derailed their great work to move away from the bottom three.

Their last result was a much-needed late victory over Charlton Athletic as Matty Daly came off the bench to strike in injury time. Daly’s inclusion in the squad was another symptom of the lack of fully-fit numbers Cowley can choose from.

Up next is the trip to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Athletic, and with some players returning and others missing out, we take a look at the side we expect Cowley to name tomorrow…

With the return of some key players, we expect Cowley to revert back to the 4-2-3-1 after adopting the 4-4-2 formation in recent games.

In goal will be Liverpool loanee Kamil Grabara who is developing very nicely for the Terriers after signing in the summer and looking to continue his run of playing almost every league game so far this season.

In front of him will be an unchanged defence of Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Christopher Schindler, Jon Stankovic, and Florent Hadergjonaj. This quartet kept a clean sheet against a potent Charlton side in midweek and with key defenders still missing, there is no reason for Cowley to constantly change something that provided a winning formula last time out.

In a holding midfield pair will be the returning Trevoh Chalobah and Jonathan Hogg. Chalobah will surely return to the side after serving his three-match ban and this is a massive boost for the Terriers who have one of their key midfielders back and ready to play, alongside Hogg who has been a stalwart for the side over the past four years.

Can you remember Huddersfield's 2017 play-off winning side?

In an attacking midfield trio, will be Elias Kachunga, Juninho Bacuna, and Karlan Grant, which presents a near return to the attack that helped push the side towards that seven-game unbeaten run. Grant would move out wide which might not be his most effective position but offers Cowley a chance to put someone up front who is more of a focal point in the lone-striker role.

Playing up front would be Steven Mounie who needs to recapture the goalscoring form that earned him the move to West Yorkshire in the first place and he certainly has qualities to offer in the final third with his physical presence.

With Fraizer Campbell still injured, Huddersfield are alarmingly light in the striker department so Mounie represents the best tactical option to play up front on his own at the moment.
