Millwall midfielder Jayson Molumby has reflected on his side's impressive 2-1 win away to Bristol City on Tuesday night.

The man who joined on a season-long loan from Brighton in the summer was making his 14th appearance of the campaign in a match which saw Gary Rowett's side rise into 12th place.

And afterwards, Molumby was quick to heap praise on his teammates.

“I have to give credit to the rest of the boys – the back five were unbelievable," the 20-year-old told the club's official website.

"I like to think we’ve learnt from our previous mistakes when we’ve had a lead late on and haven’t been able to see out the win.

QUIZ: Millwall through the decade: How much do you remember about the 2012/13 season?

"We had to throw bodies in front of the ball, be organised and grind out a result – that’s what we’re about.”

Millwall took the lead in the 13th minute when some impressive play from Shaun Hutchinson and Mahlon Romeo eventually led to the ball falling to the feet of Jed Wallace, who made no mistake with the finish.

City continued to dominate possession but could not break down their stubborn opponents and with 20 minutes left it was 2-0, Jake Cooper heading home Wallace's free-kick.

Callum O'Dowda pulled one back with six minutes to go to make for a nervey finish but the Lions held on, with Jed Wallace's stock having risen even higher in the process.

The verdict

Molumby is another player who appears to be going from strength to strength under Gary Rowett.

He played the entire game last night in defensive midfield and did an excellent job alongside the experienced Shaun Williams.

There is still a long way to go in the season but if Millwall continue to improve at their current rate it could be a very exciting 2019 indeed.
