For the second successive season, Danny Cowley has remodelled the Lincoln City squad without ever indicating a mass clear out.

He could be forgiven for thinking he wasn't far off with his squad after they finished seventh in League Two, but a semi-final defeat over two legs laid bare some of the failings from last season. A lack of clinical finishing and maybe a lack of depth ended their hopes of successive promotions on a warm evening in Devon.

That didn't prompt a major reaction from the cool and collected Cowley, instead he retained almost all of the squad, or at least appeared to. New deals were offered to full back Sean Long and midfielder Elliott Whitehouse, whilst players such as Ollie Palmer and Paul Farman sat comfortable on their two-year deals.

Now, with Deadline Day behind us, Lincoln City have a very different squad, with several winners and losers emerging from a summer of impressive business.

FLW looks at two winners and two losers from this summer's window.

Luque isn't a name many football fans will be familiar with, but he's a sure-fire winner this summer after jumping up the football pyramid.

Last season he plied his trade for Isthmian League side Heybridge Swifts, but after a month-long trial at Sincil Bank, he's earned a six-month deal with the Imps.

Heybridge are winners too, they secured a fee for the former Barcelona youngster, meaning everyone comes out of the deal smelling of roses.

Paul Farman made over 200 outings for the Imps and wasn't expected to leave this summer, but with Josh Vickers fit, Danny Cowley was seemingly interested in another keeper.

Farman hadn't be trusted to take over in the former Arsenal man's absence last season and he left for Stevenage in the summer, replaced by Grant Smith from Boreham Wood.

He'll be a solid keeper in League Two for Dino Maamria but he lost out this summer after seven seasons with the Imps.

McCartan didn't impress at Bradford and he appeared to be on the periphery of their first team plans. After joining from Accrington the year before, the high hopes invested in him had faded.

Despite bringing in John Akinde and Bruno Andrade, despite already having Matt Green and Matt Rhead, McCartan started the season opener against Northampton Town. He looks likely to play a big role for City this season and that is something he'll relish.

Habergham has been first-choice left back for two seasons under Danny Cowley, but with so many departures he is only one of two players left from the team that won the National League.

His pre-season injury, coupled with the arrival of Harry Toffolo, means he could well be next on the list for a Sincil Bank departure.
