Ever since Sunderland bid £3m for Bournemouth's Max Gradel last week, the deal has looked almost certain to go through barring agreement of personal terms.

Gradel, 29, only featured 11 times for Bournemouth last season following a big money move from Ligue 1 side AS Saint Etienne in the summer of 2015.

Gradel impressed at Dean Court during the early stages of his first season, but a serious knee injury suffered on 29 August 2015 against Leicester left him out for 6 months, and he struggled to re-establish himself in the side following his return.

Sunderland looked set to seal the move for the Ivorian winger this summer, but late interest from Toulouse and Nantes could scupper the deal.

Although a move for Aiden McGeady appears close, Simon Grayson will still need to improve his attacking firepower, with Jeremain Lens and Wahbi Khazri both rumoured to be leaving the club.

With that in mind, here are 2 alternative wingers that Sunderland should sign if the Gradel deal falls through...

Ademola Lookman (Loan)

Lookman only signed for Everton in January from Charlton and is expected to be a future star at Goodison Park, but given Everton's signings in the final third this summer (Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen and Sandro Ramirez, as well as the impending return of Yannick Bolasie), manager Ronald Koeman could sanction a loan move for the promising 19-year-old.

With Lookman's ability meaning he could easily play a part in the Premier League given his early performances for Everton, a move to Sunderland would be seen as a coup but one that would certainly enhance the Black Cats' squad.

Lookman would be a key signing for a side that lacked genuine pace last season, and would add an element of creativity that was only present from Wahbi Khazri last season.

The fact that Lookman plays at Everton could also prove to be an advantage - Grayson has already completed signings for defender Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning and winger McGeady could be set for a move following a successful loan spell at Grayson's last club, Preston North End, last season.

Josh Morris

Josh Morris joined Scunthorpe last summer and has had a quality season at Glanford Park, scoring 19 times in the league, providing 17 assists and won two consecutive Player of the Month awards in August and September.

Morris, 25, was released by now-League 1 side Blackburn Rovers in 2015 but had a breakthrough season under the stewardship of Graham Alexander at Scunthorpe, who also managed him during two separate loan spells at Fleetwood Town.

Morris is also capable of playing as a left back, something that could make him a key target for the Black Cats with Bryan Oviedo's future at the club uncertain, and only the Costa Rican and new signing Brendan Galloway capable of playing in the position.

One sticking point, however, would be that Morris would probably cost a substantial fee, with Scunthorpe not looking to sell players as they push for promotion back to the Championship next season, although has shown the potential that he could be a key asset at the Stadium of Light.
