West Brom got back to winning ways in emphatic style with a 4-1 success over Leeds on Saturday, with Dwight Gayle getting on the scoresheet once again.

A cheeky back-heel from Gayle made it 4-0 to Albion at the time and was the 28-year-old's ninth goal in just 14 games so far this season.

That highlights just how important the on-loan Newcastle man has been for the Baggies and his form is a key factor in Darren Moore's men being the highest scorers in the Championship.

Therefore, you would expect Albion to go all-out to land Gayle on a permanent basis but that could prove to be tricky.

Chronicle Live revealed that the Championship side have not agreed a buyout clause as part of the loan deal and they also claimed the striker is open to returning to Newcastle next season.

Here we look at TWO reasons why that will leave key figures at Albion very worried...

Gayle's form this season is only going to mean one thing - his price will rise.

Newcastle managed to get around £30m for Aleksandar Mitrovic who had a fantastic second half of the season for Fulham and they may use that as a reference should Albion open negotiations.

Either way, the power will be with the Premier League side as Gayle has scored goals for fun, suits Albion's system and has a few years left on his contract.

Following on from that, others will be interested in Gayle.

He has perhaps unfairly earned a reputation of someone who can star in the Championship but struggles in the top-flight but his goal record this season will make people take notice.

Albion haven't been big spenders in recent years and if they get competition for Gayle's signature, they may not win the race.
