Having narrowly missed out on promotion from the Championship last month, West Bromwich Albion will be looking to go one step better during the upcoming 2019/19 campaign.

Yet in order to achieve this goal, the Baggies will need to launch a major overhaul of their squad as a failure to do so could result in another year of disappointment.

Although it is still very unclear about who will be in charge at the Hawthorns, regardless of who is appointed, it is imperative that the club use pre-season as an opportunity to give some of their forgotten players a chance to prove themselves again.

By offering a fresh start, the Baggies will be able to see who is, and who isn't good enough to play at second-tier level and thus avoid the possibility of making the mistake of letting an individual leave prematurely.

Keeping this in mind, here are two players that we think need a big summer to stand a chance of getting back into West Brom's plans for the season ahead.

Allan Nyom

Despite enjoying two fruitful seasons in the Premier League in which he made 61 appearances, Allan Nyom was loaned out to Leganes last summer following West Brom's relegation to the Championship.

Whereas it could be argued that the Baggies didn't exactly struggle in the right-back's absence, if he can replicate the form which allowed him to thrive when he initially joined the club, he may be able to take them to new heights next season.

However, a failure to make any sort of impression over the coming months could result in Nyom being made surplus to requirements by West Brom's new manager, bringing an end to his three-year stint in the West Midlands.

Oliver Burke

Once considered one of Britain's most exciting young prospects during his spell at Nottingham Forest, it is fair to say that Oliver Burke has failed to live to expectations in recent years.

Although he did show glimmers of his undoubted ability last season for West Brom, a lack of consistency resulted in him being loaned out to Scottish Premiership side Celtic in January.

With this summer representing a last chance saloon for Burke at the Baggies, he simply has to show some signs that he can compete at Championship level during pre-season as a failure to do so could see his future being brought into question by the club.
