This weekend sees Reading travel to Elland Road to face promotion hopefuls Leeds United in what could be the Royals' toughest test of the season so far.

They are in a position of relative comfort at the moment, perched in 15th place and 11 points clear of the relegation zone and also 11 behind sixth-placed Preston North End.

They will be looking for back-to-back wins in Yorkshire on Saturday as well having comfortably dispatched Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 previously with Puscas, Meite and Baldock all grabbing a goal.

The Whites had been on a poor run of form in 2020 but a draw with Brentford at Griffin Park and a win against Bristol City on Saturday has boosted spirits around the club again.

So, just how can Mark Bowen's side get the better of Bielsa's men?

Here are TWO possibilities...

Pack the midfield

It so often proves to the most important area of the pitch when facing Leeds.

The Whites were rampant in the area against both Brentford and Bristol City, so if Reading want to beat the Whites it is a battle they are going to have to win.

Bowen's standard 4-2-3-1 could work well in this respect, if the attacking midfielder does not play too advanced and both Ovie Ejaria and Yakou Meite are able to drop back as well.

It is the area where Leeds are so good at winning the ball back and suffocating sides, so doing what they can to stop that would be wise.

QUIZ: How much can you remember about Reading’s 2020 so far?

Set-pieces

Both Ben White and Liam Cooper have proven themselves to be excellent at the back, but more often than not in the sense of springing attacks, rather than out and out defending.

Reading therefore could find themselves having plenty of joy from set-pieces.

With the likes of John Swift and Ovie Ejaria whipping in crosses, both Liam Moore and Michael Morrison are likely to get chances from corners and free-kicks.

Neither White or Cooper are particularly domineering in the air, so making the most of these situations is a must for Reading.
