Cardiff City will be targeting their fifth home victory of the season when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Cardiff City Stadium this evening.

Neil Warnock's side have been a formidable entity on home soil this term with all four of their victories having come in the Welsh capital, while they have struggled to recreate these results on their travels.

The Bluebirds' last two outings encapsulates this conflicting form as their last home match saw them record an emphatic 3-0 victory over QPR, while Warnock's side then suffered a 4-2 defeat away to West Brom just days later.

This defeat to the Baggies brought Cardiff's seven-game unbeaten run to an end, but Warnock will be hoping a positive result against the Owls could serve to mark the start of another impressive run.

Here are two ways the Bluebirds can hurt Garry Monk's side tonight to help them gain three points...

Deploying a two-man attacking line

Cardiff signed striker Robert Glatzel in a £5.5million deal with Heidenheim over the summer, but the German has so far only managed to find the net twice during his nine league starts for the club.

He was been replaced during the second half of matches by fellow frontman Danny Ward in recent weeks, and the former Rotherham man has been in a rich vein of form having netted three times in his last three appearances.

This leaves Warnock with a selection dilemma ahead of the Wednesday match with Ward now pressing hard for a start, but a front two could well be the answer for Cardiff if they want to try and inflict real damage on the visitors.

A two-man partnership would provide Ward with the chance to pick up where he left off before the international break, while it would give the occasionally isolated Glatzel some much-needed support going forward.

Putting Joe Ralls straight back into the starting line-up

Ralls played every minute of Cardiff's opening nine league matches this season, but he then suffered an injury back in September which has ruled him out of the Bluebirds' last two matches.

The 26-year-old hd been one of Cardiff's brightest players this term before suffering the setback, but his return to full fitness ahead of the Wednesday clash means he should regain his place at the centre of the park.

The Bluebirds would benefit from his creative presence from deep in the side, while he would be able to easily slot back into his role within the midfield three alongside Marlon Pack and Leandro Bacuna.

Cardiff missed his composure during the West Brom match last time out, and his presence now looks set to give his side a massive boost this evening.
