Watford have taken a grip of the automatic promotion race in the Championship in recent weeks, looking a good bet to join Norwich City in the Premier League next season.
At times, Watford looked like they were bound for the play-offs, but Brentford and Swansea City have fallen off the pace in the promotion race at a time when Xisco’s side have found their groove.
Xisco is aided by a superb squad at Watford, who should be in this position where they are on the brink of the Premier League.
However, there’s little denying that the summer transfer window will require work if it is to be the Premier League that Watford are preparing for.
Yet, given the financial difficulty that might impact football this summer, promoting youth is going to be as important as ever in the coming seasons.
We look at TWO wonderkids knocking on the door at Watford…
This week, Hunter was on the scoresheet twice for Watford’s under-18s as they beat Queens Park Rangers 4-1.
Hunter is a forward that’s still very young and, at 16, it’s hard to imagine that he will be thrown into a potential Premier League campaign.
However, if Hunter continues to score goals as he ticks towards 17 or 18, he will soon be in contention to get senior minutes for Watford.
From the little we’ve seen, he could be a gem.
Cukur is a Turkish forward, who is probably that little bit closer to the senior picture than Hunter.
At 18, he’s probably going to stand a good chance of making a real breakthrough now.
Watford’s senior side have already had a taste of the talent Cukur has in training, with the forward learning the ropes from some senior stars at Vicarage Road.
He’s certainly one to watch.
