Reading have survived relegation from the Championship for another season.

An incredible losing run midway through the campaign indicated only one direction for the Royals at one stage.

But the dismissal of Veljko Paunovic and the introduction of Paul Ince saw a change in the club’s fortunes this season.

An improved run of form meant Reading managed to avoid getting sucked into the bottom three and have now mathematically secured their safety in the division with multiple games still to play.

That survival has come despite a six-point deduction penalty received earlier in the season.

But this summer now offers the club the chance to figure out a pathway forwards to avoid getting dragged into another relegation battle next campaign.

Here are two up and coming Reading players that the club could lean on more in 2022-23…

Mamadi Camará

The midfielder has appeared as a substitute six times for the Royals this season.

At 18-years old there is still a lot of his game that he is still yet to develop, but he could add something to the first team squad if relied upon more often.

His last appearance came during the club’s horrific losing streak, which was not the ideal situation for a young player to walk into.

Camará last played in a 2-0 defeat to Luton Town in January, where he featured for 12 minutes.

But with a full summer in and around the first team and some pre-season games under his belt, the Guinea-Bissau-born player could offer the team something extra without having to dip into the transfer market.

Dejan Tetek

The Serbian has come into the side with an even greater presence than last season.

With 10 Championship appearances, including five starts, his stature within the club is growing year on year.

A role in the first team squad next season is likely, but perhaps he could even grow in importance again over the next 12 months.

At only 19-years old, his development has been obvious over the last year and if he can continue to improve then he will be able to offer plenty to the side next campaign.
