Bradford City's five match winning run came to an abrupt end on Tuesday when they conceded an injury time winner to Port Vale at Valley Parade.

The Bantams don't have long to wait to try and bounce back from that defeat as they head to Macclesfield Town on Saturday.

Manager Gary Bowyer had some strong words for his team on Tuesday night saying that they hadn't done well enough to play to the final whistle.

City have conceded late goals in the last nine minutes in all three of their last games.

Bowyer will be determined not to see his side succumb to this once again as they look to bounce back after losing their first game in six.

With City wanting to move back into the the top three of the League Two table, a win would be more than welcome for Bantams fans.

Here are two tweaks Bowyer should consider if Bradford are going to walk away from Moss Rose with all three points...

Bringing in an extra defender

If keeping goals out is one of Bowyer's aims in the coming matches he could possibly look at playing an extra defender and utilising their wide-men as wing-backs.

Paudie O'Connor may consider himself unlucky to have been dropped from the starting XI following Ben Richards-Everton return from suspension after producing some very respectable displays in his absence.

Although it's unlikely, Bowyer could try starting Paudie O'Connor alongside Anthony O'Connor and Ben Richards-Everton whilst using Connor Wood and Kevin Mellor as wing-backs.

This would still allow City to press up the pitch but would have the extra cover of Paudie O'Connor at the back to help them see out the game.

Utilising Shay McCartan

Shay McCartan has found his playing time limited to substitute appearances so far this term and will be hoping to get the nod from Gary Bowyer soon.

McCartan scored seven goals for Lincoln last term in 23 appearances, 15 of those came from the substitutes bench.

With the Bantams seemingly needing an extra to be able to see out their leads bringing McCartan back into the fold could be a safe bet for Bowyer.

The former Lincoln man has only managed five substitute appearances so far this term and his inclusion off the bench may be a welcome addition should City need to sure up the points at the weekend.
