Overall, there have been lots of positives to take away from Reading's season in the Sky Bet Championship this year.

Of course, the Royals would like to have seen form be better at this stage of the campaign with them now looking very much up against it in terms of making the top six but, ultimately, given recent seasons in mind, there has at least been signs of progress.

For the Royals, then, this summer is about trying to build on that and then put together an even more sustained challenge next season for the top six spots, with signings obviously needed to help with that aim.

The Royals will also be hoping that certain transfer scenarios do not play out this summer as they aim to keep improving and, that in mind, we're taking a look at a couple of such examples now...

Michael Olise leaves

What a season Michael Olise has had and what a player he is likely going to become in the future.

Reading have certainly seen real flashes of brilliance from him this season and, naturally, there are going to be clubs that have also sat up and taken note of what he has done in the Championship this year.

He's bound to command a big fee if the Royals do end up selling him but they'd surely like to keep him if they can for next year.

He's progressed well and is only going to get even better in the seasons to come.

Lucas Joao moves on

Lucas Joao has had a brilliant season with him just shy of 20 league goals this year for the Royals.

Of course, things have dried up perhaps a little bit for him in recent weeks but he's shown the quality and talent he has got this season and Reading will want to keep that around.

When he plays well, the Royals have a chance of winning game such is his maverick-like quality and keeping a hold of him in their attack for next season would be a decent start.
