Bristol Rovers go into the January transfer window in a period of uncertainty, recently appointing a new manager and racking up the number of players on the injury table.

Ben Garner has not had the best of starts since his appointment on the 23rd December, losing two and drawing one of his three games in charge of the Gas.

It has not helped that the scale of the current injury crisis at the club is at breaking point, with Finnish goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola the latest player to spend time in the treatment room.

It is unknown if Garner will have the funds available to him to strengthen his squad, and may have to rely on free transfers and loans.

Here are two transfer priorities Bristol Rovers need to sort in the January transfer window, with eight players currently out injured for the club...

Jonson Clarke-Harris

This will be the number one priority on the minds of the fans - whether their main striker stays at the Memorial Stadium or seeks new pastures.

Throughout the season, there has been speculation surrounding the future of the 25-year-old, who has scored eleven goals in all competitions.

Club CEO Martyn Starnes gave an ambiguous answer when asked if Clarke-Harris was in line to receive a contract extension or leave the club in January, which did not help the matter.

He has been linked with Middlesbrough this season, but the club will have to try their hardest to keep one of their best players tied down until the end of the season at least.

QUIZ: How much can you remember from Bristol Rovers' 2016/17 season?

Sign another striker

With on-loan Sheffield United striker Tyler Smith out for an unspecified amount of time with a foot injury, and Victor Adeboyejo set to be recalled by Barnsley, it leaves a gap upfront that needs to be filled.

With a loan spot available if Adeboyejo leaves, Ben Garner will no doubt be dipping into the loan market to find an adequate replacement.

A pacey striker should be the priority for the Gas, with that element lacking in the final third at present.
