Derby County may occupy one of the four play-off berths heading into this weekend’s international break but the Rams are by no means guaranteed a spot in the pulsating end of season shoot-out.

A point ahead of seventh-placed Bristol City, Gary Rowett’s side hold the advantage of a game in hand over their rivals in the form of the postponed clash with automatic promotion chasing Cardiff City at Pride Park.

Former Birmingham City boss Rowett will remain confident in his side’s ability to see out the job, knowing that he faces a mass exodus if promotion to the Premier League is not secured.

Joint league top goal scorer Matej Vydra is certain to attract top-flight interest in the summer and the belief around the club is that the Czech could be on his way.

However, the former Watford man might not be the only man on his way out in the coming months…

The centre-half has been on the peripheral of first-team affairs in the East Midlands this term, appearing just once as a substitute in the league.

Although he has a year left on his current deal, the 29-year-old’s time at the club has come to its end and he will be put on the open market in the summer with Rowett sure to be keen to find a buyer for the out-of-favour man.

The former Reading FC man could find employment in the second tier once again despite his lack of game time under Rowett, who will be keen to clear the deadwood from his squad and utilise the funds to invest in other areas of the squad.

Craig Forsythe has been the man of choice on the left side of defence this year, with Olsson restricted to just eleven league starts.

The former Swedish international will refuse to play second fiddle for the remaining year of his contract and is likely to consider his options should an offer for his services materialise.

A decent player with bags of experience, Olsson will find another club upon these shores or on the continent with ease but will surely be keen to remain in England having been here for six years.

The defender more than likely has one big move in him before the latter stages of his career begin and the opportunity of a two-year contract elsewhere will certainly appeal.

Rams fans, thoughts?
