Reading fans will be absolutely heartbroken after the events on May 29th that saw them defeated in the play off final to Huddersfield.

The two sides could hardly be picked apart in the final, with neither able to score in 120 minutes of football, meaning whoever was going to the Premier League would have to defeat the other in the cruelest way possible.

After misses from Liam Moore and Jordan Obita, Huddersfield's Christopher Schindler's penalty sent the Terriers to the Premier League and confined the Royals to another season in the Championship.

The club have come an awful long way under Jaap Stam, who took over the club after a 17th placed finish and took them to third place, and will hope to consolidate their position as promotion challengers.

They have to make the necessary moves in the transfer window to do so, so here are two who should go and two who should stay at Reading next year.....

In: Maxime Colin

The Frenchman has admitted he's in the dark over his future at Brentford as the club have already signed a new right back this summer, casting his career at the club into doubt.

Chris Gunter has been average at best at right back this season, and the club could use further reinforcements next year to solidify their back line which has been weak at times this year.

Colin is an extremely good option for any side in the Championship, and Reading would do extremely well to bring him in.

Out: Tyler Blackett

Only in a back three this season has Tyler Blackett looked even remotely good.

As a centre back in a back four, a left back or a left wing back, he has been extremely weak.

Blackett arrived at the club a year ago as part of Jaap Stam's revolution at the club, signing from Manchester United after a loan spell at Celtic.

Reading can definitely do better than Blackett after such a strong season, and should look to remove him and bring in an improved centre back this summer.

In: Bakary Sako

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers man was a star when he was last in the Championship, scoring 15 goals from out wide and proving to be one of the best in the division.

He left Wolves on a free transfer in 2015 for Crystal Palace, and has failed to break into the first team and plays a bit part role.

He is likely to leave this summer, and with Roy Beerens failing to make the impact hoped by Royals fans this year, he could fit very well into their side at left wing.

Out: Sandro Wieser

Sandro Wieser is as weird a signing as there's ever been at Reading.

He arrived on a free transfer last summer, and has failed to make a single appearance since.

Stam claims that Wieser has struggled through various injury troubles throughout the season, but, frankly, with a wealth of central midfielders at the club, you struggle to see where he makes it into the picture.

Wieser, quite simply, does not have a future at Reading and should be one of a number of squad players to be cut loose this summer.
