Millwall moved out of the Championship relegation places at the weekend despite extending their winless run to six matches.

Neil Harris’ side led late on before conceding to a 73rd-minute equaliser at home to fellow strugglers Hull City in a game that ended 2-2.

Couple that with Reading’s defeat to Sheffield United, and the Lions moved up a place and made it two games without a defeat, despite their long winless run.

It was a mediocre performance overall from Millwall who had come from behind to lead before conceding in the final quarter of a game for the umpteenth time this year.

Harris' side have a busy schedule, like the rest of the division, coming up over the next month or so, and an upturn in form is going to be vital if they are to move away from the lower reaches of the table.

The Lions head to Preston North End this weekend, but before that, here are two things we learned from Millwall after Saturday’s statement with the Tigers.

Neil Harris has built his Millwall side in his image, and in recent years they have been tough to break down and score against.

This season, however, it has been the opposite of that - and that is something you don’t usually associate with Millwall under Harris.

But soft goals have been conceded all campaign long - resulting in just two clean sheets in 21 matches.

Defensive lapses are causing Harris’ side issue after issue, and it has failed to be remedied as the season nears the halfway mark.

Having been forced off in the defeat to Birmingham, he missed the draw with Bristol City last weekend and was a doubt for the Hull clash.

Lee Gregory, however, played and was, as usual, one of the most industrious players on the pitch, which resulted in him scoring his sixth league goal of the season.

The striker had a hand in the second goal, too, putting pressure on the Hull defence to force an error in the lead up to the goal.

Each week that passes by with Millwall in the mire, his importance is highlighted again and again.

If they are to survive this year, then Gregory will need to stay fit and work as hard as he is now.

Failure to do that could be catastrophic for the Lions.
