Derby County and Cardiff City played out a 1-1 draw at Pride Park last night, with the result leaving both in the bottom half of the Championship.

Phillip Cocu's side have endured a very tough start to the campaign and they thought they would record just their second victory of the season when Martyn Waghorn struck with a brilliant free-kick but a Kieffer Moore effort meant the points were shared.

That won't ease the pressure that's building on the Dutch coach and things don't get any easier for the Rams as they take on Bournemouth this weekend.

Meanwhile, for the Bluebirds, they will see it as a decent point but it's the sixth game they've failed to win this season and they trail the play-off places by four points.

Here we look at TWO things that became obvious following the draw...

The Rams lack a ruthless edge

Martyn Waghorn's superb free-kick last night was the third direct free-kick the team have scored this season and they've only managed four goals in the first eight games. And, the other was netted by Jack Marriott who is no longer at the club!

So, it's becoming a real problem for Cocu. The team are playing some decent stuff, they're working the ball through the lines well but they lack that ruthless edge in the final third.

It has to change if they are to climb the table as you can't keep relying on moments of individual brilliance.

Cardiff still haven't clicked

There's a lot of excitement around Cardiff after their productive window but things just aren't working right now in terms of performances.

Admittedly, injuries haven't helped Neil Harris and it will take time for the new recruits to gel but last night was another mixed performance from the Welsh side.

That's not to say they were bad but the talent they have should be delivering more.
