The first Sheffield derby of the season ended in a stalemate at Bramall Lane as Jos Luhukay's men frustrated the home side.

Chris Wilder's men were dominant as ever in possession, but failed to break down a resilient Owls side who had clearly set their stall out come and simply not get beat.

A first half penalty from Davd McGoldrick was saved by Owls 'keeper Cameron Dawson, and that proved to the be the decisive moment in the game as the Blades failed to create any sort of clear cut chances in the rest of the 90 minutes, despite being so ball dominant.

Manager Chris Wilder will no doubt feel he did all he could to aid his team in their quest for victory, but there is always something that fans and pundits think could have been done differently to make a difference in any game of football.

With that in mind, we at FLW took a look at TWO things Wilder might have done differently last night...

Injected some more pace into the team

Although the attacking options are not the greatest on Wilder's bench, he did have the pace of Marvin Johnson and George Baldock on there, and both could have potentially been used.

Kieron Freeman looked tired down the right with Morgan Fox there for the taking, something Baldock could have exposed. While in Johnson United have an athlete and someone who can get at defenders and cause a different headache.

With United having so much of the ball, an injection of pace from the bench could have been a difference maker.

Changed the shape

It was clear from the opening that Wednesday were not coming to try and win the game, as the Owls rarely pressed beyond halfway and left Steven Fletcher and Adam Reach to do most of the donkey work up top.

Wilder could and maybe should have acted on this, and the option was there to push an extra man into midfield or even up front.

With the Blades pushing and the Owls sitting in, adding an extra man into attacking or midfield areas could have been a good option for Wilder and his team.
