Chris Hughton has rejuvenated Brighton since he took over in 2014, guiding them to a third-place finish in his first full season in charge, a remarkable achievement, given where they were when he took over.

The Seagulls were unlucky to miss out on automatic promotion to just goal difference and then lose out again in the Play-Offs, Sheffield Wednesday inflicting more misery on Brighton, knocking them out over two legs.

Those on the south coast have shown great character to come back this season and they are giving it another go. They currently sit second, just one point behind the league leaders, Newcastle, and they have opened up and eight point gap to third place Reading.

Brighton look to go again this season, but to give themselves the best possible chance, there are some things that Hughton needs to address, or else Brighton's challenge could derail.

Here, we will look at TWO things which Hughton needs to address in January...

Who plays at right-back

Bruno has occupied the right-back role at Brighton for a while now, but maybe now his time as starting right back could be coming to an end. Liam Rosenior is back in training and arguably offers more from right back than Bruno.

Hughton may even look to bring in a right-back and put the returning Rosenior in at left-back. Bruno has no doubt been a good servant for Brighton but he is now 36 and his playing days are coming to end, so some youthful exuberance at right back could further improve Brighton.

What is his best team

There is no doubting Hughton has some top players at his disposal, so narrowing his side down to the 11 best players must be very difficult, but nevertheless, it's a dilemma he will love to have.

He's found it difficult this season to settle on one team that plays week in week out, despite Brighton's success, but with Kayal and Rosenior close to a return he may start to settle on one starting eleven.

Sometimes, it's good to have consistency on the pitch where players can develop relationships with each other and that comes by naming unchanged teams.
