The Swans have had a slight dip in form of late, which has seen them surrender their place in the automatic promotion spots.

Steve Cooper’s men have dropped points in four of their last five Championship fixtures, with their only win in that time coming away at Charlton Athletic.

The South Wales side will be looking to bounce back against second-bottom Barnsley this Saturday, even though it might be another potential banana skin - just look at what Stoke City managed to do at the Liberty Stadium.

So far, however, it is hard to think negatively of Swansea’s season. Appointing Steve Cooper was a step in the unknown after Graham Potter’s departure to Brighton & Hove Albion, but he has proven to be the right fit for how Swansea want to play.

The former Liverpool and England youth coach seems to be galvanising his young side, and seems adamant on maintaining a possession-based philosophy.

Naturally, it would seem that such an environment would be good for any potential youngster to try and force their way into the first team.

We take a look at the young talents that could catch the eye in the near future.

Joe Lewis

The 20-year-old defender from Neath is highly rated at Swansea, and has been sent on loan to Torquay United in the National League to ply his trade.

Steve Cooper clearly is keeping his eye on the youngster for the future, as he was part of the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain.

Linking up with vastly experienced manager Gary Johnson at Plainmoor may just prove to be a masterstroke for Lewis’ development.

Ben Cabango

The defender has been on Swansea’s books since the age of 14, receiving first-team debut last season in a League Cup tie against Northampton Town.

Cabango spent part of last season on loan at Welsh Premier side TNS, where he scored for the side in a Champions League qualifier against North Macedonian side Shkendija.

The 19-year-old is also capped by Wales at Under-21 level, so will be hoping he soon gets a chance to impress in the Swansea first team under Steve Cooper.
