Swansea City are ticking along nicely under Steve Cooper with their late 2-1 victory over Wigan on Saturday afternoon being their eighth win in 15 matches this term.

This has seen the South Wales side move up to fourth in the Championship table, with back-to-back wins over Cardiff and the Latics having raised the mood at the club following a run of just one win in their previous seven matches before this.

Cooper has made a largely positive start to his first managerial role in club football with a number of impressive summer signings including Freddie Woodman, Jake Bidwell and Sam Surridge all having made their mark in SA1.

However, there are a number of players in the Swansea squad who have not received the playing time they would have liked this term. Cooper has rotated his squad with some regularity in the Swans' 18 league and cup matches so far this term, but there are a handful of players who might be made available for a move in the January market.

Here are two players Cooper should look to offload when the transfer window opens...

Barrie McKay

McKay was signed by the Swans in the summer of 2018 following their relegation from the Premier League, but the winger has failed to truly establish himself at the club since his arrival.

The Scot made a total of 31 appearances under former boss Graham Potter last term, but he now appears to be out of favour in South Wales having only been included in one Championship match-day squad under Cooper this season.

The Swansea boss has a wide array of attacking options including the likes of Bersant Celina, Wayne Routledge and Kristoffer Peterson, so McKay is now low down the pecking order at the club.

It seems unlikely there will be any route back for the 24-year-old under Cooper, so Swansea should be looking to offload the former Nottingham Forest man in January.

Kristoffer Nordfeldt

The Sweden international has not made a league appearances this season following the arrival of Freddie Woodman over the summer, with the Newcastle loanee having established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper this season.

In a recent interview with Fotbollskanalen, Nordfeldt admitted that he is not happy with his current situation at the Liberty Stadium, and Cooper will surely be looking to offload the goalkeeper in January.

The 30-year-old has clearly failed to impress the Swansea boss this term, and he will surely be wanting to play first-team football at this stage of his career, while the Swans would surely prefer to have him off the wage bill.

It would be no surprise to see Nordfeldt move in on in a couple of months.
