Swansea City will be hoping that the 2022/23 season proves to be one of progress under Russell Martin.

Following Martin's appointment last summer, the Swans endured a slow start to the 2021/22 campaign that saw them mired at the wrong end of the Championship table.

However, a stronger end to the campaign eventually saw the Swans finish 15th, with a run of just two defeats in 13 games prompting hope of a potential push for the play-offs next season.

If they are to break into the top six during the 2022/23 campaign, then the Swans will of course, need ther squad to step up, and on the basis of this season, they may be some particular players they will be looking to for those contributions.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at two Swansea players who ought to be well worth keeping an eye on during the course of next season, right here.

Michael Obafemi

While Joel Piroe hit the ground running, Swansea's other summer striking addition, Michael Obafemi, was a bit more of a slow burner, scoring just once in the first half of the campaign.

However, the 21-year-old really showed what he was capable of after the turn of the year by adding a further 11 goals to his tally, and you wonder how different things might have been for the Swans, had he been firing like that alongside Piroe all season.

It will therefore be interesting, and potentially crucial for Swansea, to see if he can maintain that form throughout the whole of next season, while his interviews with the club's media are always worth a watch as well.

Jamie Paterson

Another summer signing who proved to be a big hit at Swansea, Paterson scored nine goals and assistsed nine more during his debut season with the club.

The attacking midfielder's strikes were often spectacular, meaning he is worth keeping an eye for those alone, especially since that ability to produce a spark out of nothing could be so important again next season.

Off the pitch, after the controversy that surrounded the way Swansea triggered the 12-month extension in his contract, it will also be intriguing to see if the club are able to agree a new deal with Paterson, as he enters the final year of his current one.
