Sunderland are one of the in-form teams in the EFL, and a huge part of that is the impact of Phil Parkinson.

Despite a shaky start as manager of the Black Cats, Parkinson has reignited the Wearsiders' hopes of securing promotion this term after seeing them to just one defeat in their last 14 games.

A large part of Sunderland's success has been the consistency in the starting XI.

Parkinson has worked out a winning formula which has served the team very well in League One as they now sit within touching distance of the automatic promotion spots.

But while many players have prospered under the new boss, others have been pushed aside as they struggle to break into his plans.

Here's two Sunderland players who may now be better suited to another club after falling out of favour under Phil Parkinson.

Duncan Watmore

The last few years have been plagued by injury for the 25-year-old.

Watmore signed for the club in 2013 but has been unable to enjoy any period of sustained form in the first team set-up as he struggles for form and fitness.

While he's been a regular off the bench for Phil Parkinson, the winger is out of contract in the summer and could benefit hugely from a change of scene and a new challenge as he looks to give his career the kickstart that it deserves.

Can you name every Sunderland player's shirt number this season?

Will Grigg

His Sunderland career has been far from successful and it appears that his days are very much numbered.

A lack of form in the first half of the season has seen him fall way out of favour in the second, with Grigg struggling to even make the matchday squad under Phil Parkinson.

Grigg is used to playing in an attacking pair, meaning that the current system being used may well see the striker move on to pastures new in the summer.
