Sunderland made it five league wins in a row last time out as they moved into the top two with victory at Plymouth.

Jack Ross' side are starting to look the part in the third tier, with the Black Cats boasting several quality individuals at that level.

However, the league won't be the focus this weekend as they prepare to take on Port Vale in the FA Cup first round. It's new territory for the Wearside outfit who usually enter in the New Year.

Even though the league is the priority, Ross will want his side to maintain the positive momentum that surrounds the club and they're set to be backed by a large following.

Yet, it does present the former St. Mirren boss with a chance to bring in those who have been on the fringes in recent weeks.

Here we look at TWO potential changes the boss should be considering for the game against the League Two side...

The experienced defender hasn't played since the end of September and this is an ideal opportunity for Ross to give Loovens game time.

At his age, he will take time to get up to match speed so this is a chance to ensure he can be more prepared for upcoming league games.

He will also provide a physical presence that will be needed in what could be a tough cup tie.

Injuries halted Sinclair's start to the season and he didn't capitalise when given a chance recently.

All in all, he has just one goal in ten games, and that came five weeks ago.

Therefore, the 22-year-old may be low on confidence, so the chance to play against lower league opposition, and potentially grab a goal, could seriously help him.
