Of the relegated sides, Swansea City have neither truly impressed nor disappointed.

They haven't raced out of the blocks full of goals like West Brom, nor have they flattered to deceive like Gary Rowett's Stoke City.

Instead, they've consolidated, proving to be financially frugal but also very hard to beat.

They're 11th in the table and in flashes have shown the sort of scintillating style that had critics purring at one time. They've reverted to the Swansea of old, a side looking to pass and move, winning games the right way.

It is an early incarnation of what Graham Potter wants to achieve, but his transfer business at times restrained and looking a bit underwhelming. Big players left, but those who remain have shown themselves capable of sustaining a mid table challenge.

What do they need to progress though? Which summer mistakes do they need to correct in January? FLW takes a look.

Tom Carroll has done very well in the holding midfield role, but ahead of him they perhaps lack a bit of class. Sam Clucas left for Stoke and they then failed in a bid to take Ryan Woods to the Liberty Stadium.

Woods would have been perfect and whilst they're not doing badly, they've only scored five times in their last six matches, four of those games drawing a blank.

They need to add a creative midfielder to their ranks in January.

Ollie McBurnie is a decent striker, but they need someone to take the pressure from him at times.

The Ayew brothers both left in the summer, as did Borja Baston, but Joel Asoro hasn't shown enough to be considered an able replacement, yet.

They need another striker to add to their options in the winter window.
