When Frank Lampard was appointed as Derby boss in the summer, many fans predicted that the former Chelsea man could be the manager that takes Derby back up to the Premier League, and the early signs are promising.

Derby are currently eighth in the Championship table, and more importantly, are just one point off the play-off places, with Derby fans dreaming of a return to the top-flight.

They face league leaders Sheffield United in front of the Sky Sports cameras at the weekend.

Lampard's side come into the game in a poor run of form, having not won in their last three league matches.

The former England midfielder will be keen to turn that poor form around as the crucial festive period edges ever closer.

But what mistakes has Lampard made during his time as Derby boss that will need to be addressed as soon as possible?

We discuss those mistakes here...

Lampard's side have played a 4-3-3 formation for large parts of this season but that could soon change.

With the likes of Jack Marriott and Martyn Waghorn being limited to just five starts between them, they will certainly be after more regular football.

It could be time to experiment with his squad and play two strikers up front with both of the front men proven goalscorers in the Football League.

With the amount of attacking talent that Lampard has at his disposal, it will mean that some players might be unhappy with their lack of playing time at Derby.

Lampard has opted with a front three which has meant that his side play with one striker which has meant that there has been a lack of game time for new signings Martyn Waghorn and Jack Marriott.

He may be forced into giving the pair more game time or to send them out on loan if they are wanting more regular playing time than they are currently are getting.
