Sheffield Wednesday have had a bit of a stop start beginning to the season, but still find themselves on more points at this stage of the season than last.

After coming so close to promotion last term, when Mo Diame scored a stunning play off final winner to deny them, the Owls are fully expected to challenge further up the table again this season.

They added Steven Fletcher to their attacking options in the summer, and alongside Fernando Forestieri, Gary Hooper, and Lucas Joao, the Owls have some excellent options up top.

However, they have not quite fired between them this season, with Forestieri linked with moves away and Joao not getting game time, they Owls might look to add another stellar name to their striking ranks.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at TWO strikers Sheffield Wednesday could look to seal a deal for in January...

Jordan Rhodes

The Owls have already shown they are willing to spend and pay big, and a move for Rhodes would not be out of the question in January.

Heavily linked last winter, Rhodes signed for Boro, but has found himself out of the team this season in the main.

If Rhodes was to sign for the Owls, it would be a huge coup for the club and he would surely find his goalscoring touch again in the Championship.

Benik Afobe

If there is one things the Owls lack, it is pure race pace in the striking areas, and Afobe brings just this.

A £9m signing for Bournemouth last season, Afobe has found himself out of the picture behind Callum Wilson this season under Eddie Howe.

Afobe would be open to a loan move no doubt though if the situation remains the same, and despite having a spell at the Owls when he was younger, things are different now and he would surely relish the chance of hitting the goal trail again.

Owls fans, would you take these two? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
