Queens Park Rangers have began the 2016/17 season off on an average note, with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's team lying 13th in the Sky Bet Championship table.

They currently have fifteen points from eleven matches, with four wins, three draws and four losses coming from the opening few months of the season.

QPR's lacklustre start to the campaign is mostly down to the lack of goals coming from the attacking front. The Loftus Road side have scored 14 goals this season, that is on average only 1.2 goals a game.

Tjaronn Chery is their top goal-scorer having hit the net on four occasions, while German Sebastian Polter is the highest-scoring striker at QPR with just three goals.

If they want to challenge the top-six, then they will definitely need to sign one or two new strikers in January.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Ryan White identifies TWO strikers that QPR should secure a deal for in January...

Matty Taylor

Matty Taylor is no stranger to being linked with numerous Championship clubs.

The 26-year-old joined League One outfit Bristol Rovers in 2014 after the Gas suffered relegation to the Conference.

In his first season at the Memorial Stadium, Taylor scored 20 goals and that trend continued, having helped guide Bristol Rovers back to the Football League.

Darrell Clarke's team got promoted again, mainly to the performances of Taylor, who netted 28 goals last season from 50 games.

The striker signed a new contract during the summer and hasn't struggled to find his feet in League One - he already has seven goals so far this campaign and continues to impress.

If QPR want goals, then I think Taylor could be a target very likely to arrive at Loftus Road.

Despite playing a division below, he has shown he can adapt to any league, having done it for the last two years.

Whether he may struggle because he would be joining mid-season remains to be seen, but he could still do a job for Queens Park Rangers to solve their goal-scoring problems up front.

Jonathan Leko

leko

The 17-year-old has been with Premier League side West Bromwich Albion since the age of 11.

Leko burst onto the scene early last season, when he made his debut the Baggies in a League Cup defeat to Norwich City.

Leko's Premier League debut came towards the end of the 2015/16 campaign, coming on as a substitute for Saido Berahino at the age of just 16.

The youngster put pen-to-paper on his long-term future by signing his first professional contract at West Brom, which expires in the summer of 2019.

The striker is yet to score a goal in senior football in his nine appearances under manager Tony Pulis, but has made a few assists to set up forward Salomon Rondon.

Leko has 25 caps at different England youth levels, and is currently in and amongst the Under-18 national team.

A loan spell away from The Hawthorns may be good for Leko.

It would enable him to see the world of football in a different light, which is a great experience for any youngster. A club like Queens Park Rangers could probably do with a player of his age who is just hungry to get minutes and will put in 100% effort on the pitch, something I feel the R's are currently lacking.
